Why Pharmacy Technicians Positions are in Demand?

As we globally navigate the COVID pandemic one thing has been certain the increase demand for filling Pharmacy positions in community and institutional pharmacy settings. 

Many national leading pharmacy chains such as Walgreen, CVS and Kroger to name a few have seen the increase demand of needing certified and licensed pharmacy technicians throughout the country. This has a bit to do with pandemic related COVID testing services, COVID vaccinations and increase in the need for prescription medications as patients navigate the new normal and their health. 

AlliedRx Institute of Healthcare's first publicly offered program was Pharmacy Tech. We started the program with the premise of educating individuals to becoming nationally board certified and licensed to be employed in the field of Pharmacy. 

Being a pharmacy technician is much more than the generalized idea of counting pills. Pharmacy Technicians lead a more rewarding career as they touch on various parts of the medication filling process. Pharmacy Technicians can find themselves performing different tasks such as; pharmacy billing, payment adjudication, insurance verifications, compounding medications, assisting with ordering of medications, working with pharmaceutical drug manufacturers, filling long-term care patient prescriptions, preparation of IV solutions in hospital/institutional setting and even preparing chemotherapy drugs. There's definitely more tasks beyond that as well! 

AlliedRx students learn how to perform every aspect of a pharmacy technician job role and come out of our institution prepared, ready and willing to lend a hand in the healthcare industry.  With our campus classes we offer simulation activities that allow students to develop their skills and bring the textbook to life. 

Another neat simulation we offer for this program is simulated prescription processing. Thats right!
